Review: Cover FX liquid foundation in E0

Yet another chapter in my hunt for a foundation…  Previously, I tried Cover FX’s Powder foundation, and liked it, but wanted more coverage for photography and events.  The color was also a bit off.  So here’s my thoughts on their liquid foundation!

For reference, I have PALE(paler than MAC NC15) skin, with some freckles/uneven pigmentation. There’s the beginnings of a few fine lines(genetic, I’m fairly sure) under my eyes, and on my forehead, but no real wrinkles or crow feet(since I’m 23.) There’s a fairly minimal amount of under eye bags and coloring. It is slightly oily, gets some hormonal acne/blemishes, though not a lot, and is VERY sensitive to skincare and foundation. I look for allergic reactions, or fragrance allergies when picking out facial products, almost before any other consideration.

Electric aqua

Also known as I Feel Like A Barbie

I want stronger lips.  I think the nude is just unbalanced on my face shape.  So much for THAT convention.  Maybe I’ll go upstairs and do them black and white striped.  That could be fun.

I’ve decided that 2-3 bright shadows +MUFE White Aqua Cream+ MAC Gesso=instant eyeblinding makeup LOVE!  Yesterdays look was basically the same technique as this, just different  colors.

Review: MUFE Eyeshadow # 72

I think at  the time of my last haul, I forgot I’d given in and purchased Electric Eel. I might have skipped buying MUFE eyeshadow #72, if I’d remembered.  Electric Eel is… 11$ for a pro refill pan, and this was 19$ I believe.  Still an awesome color, just one that’s fairly easily dupe-able for cheaper.

Oh well, I still love MUFE.  Can’t really go wrong with their basic brights!

Also known as  Subtlety Is NOT My Thing.  I really need to own a purple lipstick.  My quest for a pretty DIY one with my existing colors continues.  This wasn’t bad though!  In person its a touch blue-er and prettier.  But it’s settling into my chappy lip lines and doesn’t look even on camera.

Review: MAC Studio Fix Liquid foundation in NC 15

This was my go-to foundation for months.  I’ve moved away from it for a few reasons, but it occurred to me that I should do a full review, if only to contrast it with the replacements I’ve been trying!

aqua/blue eyes

Eh, the eyes were lovely in person, but I don’t like it with the silver i added. It accentuates my eye baggage.  I think i could have gotten a better effect with a light dusting of glitter. Plus, I think that the silver powder stuck to the rhinestones and muted them.  Probably also not helped by the slight stickiness of the foundation I’m test driving.  Made it impossible to get an EVEN Dusting of powder.

Either my camera is breaking, or I’m more tired than I thought—I could NOT get my camera to focus!  Ordinarily that only happens when the batteries are low, but these were NEW ones!  At any rate, the only way i could get it to work was with a further lens, so please excuse the slightly out of focus shots, cropped from more irregular large shots.  I really do have a knack for picking out camera lemons.  I don’t want to buy a new one already, but i think its JUST outside warranty.

Oh, and I forgot what mascara I was using, and did 3 coats of a formula prone to clumping.  So my lashes look like barbie hair, after you try blow drying it. Heh OUCH! I think I’ll go copy one of those images into my review as a cautionary tale.

My current collection/organization

Because I am bored, and I’ve added a ton of stuff since I last listed my stash.  It’s time to buy new palettes-these have been reorganized to about their full capacity.  I can’t even fit one pan in, if it won’t go in the purple palette!

As of 7/27/10, this is what I’m working with!

Eh, simple, but OK. I may do something brighter later, but I had no idea WHAT to do today.

MUFE HD Cream Blushes-colors 4, 5, and 14

I got samples of these, to see what I thought of them, before getting the full size.  The MUFE HD Cream Blush line, available at freestanding Sephora’s, has  a LOT of colors.  I’d highly recommend swatching in person before you get sold on any one color.  There are a number that are similar, with just a teensy hint of difference, to the naked eye.  Don’t want to discover you’ve ordered two colors online, that don’t look ANY different, though there is a minute difference in description!

I tried to pick a variety, though they are all the very palest the line has to offer. There’s a beautiful plum that I could tell would be lovely on someone with much more pigmentation than I have.  I do love plum blushes though.

Gothic Orchid

Nothing special about this. Just me trying to force myself to be cheerful, in the middle of a brown study.  I think I’ll wash it off and try again.  Still, it doesn’t look bad for having skipped eyeliner.  Ordinarily thats an instant NO for me.  My mascara IS good and dark though.
