Review: Laura Mercier eyeshadow in African Violet

You may have noticed I have a thing for mauve and purple shadows with gold sparkles.

This is the first Laura Mercier shadow I’ve tried, and the only color that really interested me. It’s a cool mauve, with gold shimmer.  It applies BEAUTIFULLY.

I would say this is similar to Fyrinnae Meercat and NARS Sugarland, but it’s a bit more purple.

The pan is quite large.  It’s a teensy bit smaller than the MUFE pans, and the price is similar.

The case is interesting.  Laura Mercier also produces larger compacts for their shadows, so to facilitate that, the pan comes out of the single shell.  It’s not magnetic—the plastic tray surrounding the pan actually pops UP to release a secondary tray with the pan, and the color sticker on the bottom.  So it’s all interchangable and you never have to worry abotu labeling your shadows, if you use their palettes.  But there’s not ahuge variety to the shadows.  A few finishes, some different shades—but Laura Mercier is DEFINITELY a more “wearable” brand, so none of the shades are particularly unique.
