Focus On: MUFE Star Powder #916

Focus On is a work in progress. Have you ever talked yourself out of buying a product because the color was too odd, and you wondered how often you would really be able to use it? Or, you know those colors you LOVE because of some hidden versatility that you never imagined when you bought it? I do that ALL of the time. In the interests of loving what I HAVE, and learning its limitations, rather than relying on the influx of new colors, I will be doing this post every Saturday, focusing on a new color from my collection, with examples of past work, ideas for other uses. Please feel free to suggest colors you wish to see, or uses for the ones listed, or let me know what your favorites are for future posts.

#916 is a sparkly blush pink with gold shimmer.  It handles like a mineral shadow, but has better wear.

Pat in with a damp brush to accent the shimmer without getting the full foiled effect.  In this case, the shimmer blends out an opaque pink and an opaque foiled yellow.

Have warm skin and think you can’t wear pink?  Foil(apply wet) to the lid as a base for a smoky eye with a warm wine crease. Let 916 peek through in the inner corner.

Apply dry, over a white base, for a shimmery cream with a hint of rose.

This look demonstrates two things—Apply over a bright primer to soften the brighter color a little, and add the shimmer.  This works well over a bright coral.  Also, it softens above the crease when working with bright colors.  Even over matte colors, the shimmer doesn’t detract the way a frostier shadow might.

Hooray for multipurpose products!  This color also works well for a soft highlight with a baby pink blush.
