3 ways to wear Guerlain Rue de Passy eyeshadow palette.

I’m hoping that my feelings on the palette improve with more play. I LOVE the packaging, and the colors(in pan), but so far they seem too chalky and sheer for the price tag. Ah well, we’ll see. I tried doing 3 different looks, just to test the blending and application. I kept the palette picture here, to show which color is which, since it can be tough to see or label, in application.

Look #1
#1-crease
#2-outer corner
#4-apply wet to outer corner, as eyeliner
#6-highlight and lower lid
Buxom Amplified mascara

Look #2
#6-highlight
#3-crease
#2-above crease, by highlight
#1-middle of lower lid
#5-apply wet as eyeliner, winging up at outer corner.
Buxom Amplified Mascara

Look #3
#6-inner corner and highlight
#5-outer corner
#4-apply wet to crease, and add dry product over top to soften seam. Carry Crease shading all the want into inner corner of socket.

We’ll see more from this palette later!

I just got it yesterday, so this isn’t the review. Just me playing around, trying to get a feel for what it’s capable of. Sometimes products that I hate at first grow on me, and I can show more techniques to make them look better. Rue De Passy is full of BEAUTIFUL cool toned shades. I’m just a bit dubious about the actual application and pigmentation. Check back in a week or so for a FULL review, and details on specific shades.

I’ve thought I wanted these palettes too (ch ching!), but now seeing how sheer they are. Nope. Pretty, but I have lots of shades close to these. I REALLY appreciate you showing us new products.

BTW, have you ever tried the Guerlain bronzers – that creme one that used to be Universal something, or the mosaic kind? Also saw a UK You Tuber that had a Clarins mosaic bronzer that looked pretty cool too. Sorry to have gotten off track here. (As long as I am, I’m expecting a Sephora package today with the LAVENDER AQUA CREAM from MUFE in it!!) Too excited.

    Love ya, S.

Not a huge bronzer fan. I’ve heard about Guerlains, but never had an interest in them. I have Guerlains Meteorites de pearl(Or whatever it’s called. French is NOT a specialty!) and that’s IT from them> I bought NARS Laguna and Casino bronzers, to use on shoots, because there’s less shimmer to them than most of the colors on the market, including Guerlains.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed in the overall pigmentation on this. Would you believe that two of those looks use colors applied wet? Normally you have to work hard to soften it, and tone it DOWN when foiling colors! I don’t feel that it EVER approached the depth of color on the lid that you would guess they have, from seeing the colors in the pan.

I told the boyfriend that I probably SHOULD return this, but I’ll probably keep it just to set it on my vanity with my vintage silver hairbrush, vintage-style mirror, and delicate perfume jars. The packaging is EXQUISITE!!!! But the colors are just “meh” so far.

(Still hijacking the thread…sorry!) How do you like the Meteorites? Funny, I waannt something from Guerlain just to set out too, but I want to at least like the product.

Sheesh – the colors were applied WET! I’d never have guessed. But I gotta say, you did a beautiful amazing job on the last two eyes…you have gorgeous eyes!

Well, the liner on #2 is applied wet, and #3 some of the crease color is applied wet. Still, that was SERIOUSLY underwhelming.

I like the Meteorites. The difference is VERY VERY subtle….. There’s almost no visible shimmer or sheen, so they would work well for you. They just leave a very soft effect that is VERY flattering. They sort of smooth my skin out a bit–they soften out uneven pores, and make my skin look healthy while I’m having dryness, or allergic reactions. It’s a REALLY subtle difference, but I do see it.
